Starry Love | Wedding of Hsueh Wei and Hse Minh

“We’re one of those annoying couples who do a lot of things together. We run, drink, are hooked on movies from AppleTV at home, and very often trying out different recipes, honing our cooking skills.” The pair muses, their hobbies echoing their laid back lifestyle in their wardrobe for the day. Hse Minh’s spiffy stripped suit was a refreshing choice for the morning’s programmes while a darling bouquet of baby breaths accompanied Hsueh Wei’s light and lovely yellow dress. Hey, we like these two already!

“Initially, we had planned for a trip to the Perth and had booked ourselves into a beautiful little bed and breakfast in Pemberton, called Stonebarn. I had the intention to propose there, but figured that it would actually end up being a big logistical nightmare, and was more afraid of losing the ring than anything else,” Hse Minh adds.

“Minh proposed the right way, and by that, I mean he secretly called my father to ask for permission first. He then flew to Hong Kong to meet me, where I was there for a week, for a work trip.” Hsueh Wei marvels as she continues to describe how flushed and adorable her husband-to-be was as he knelt on a knee and asked for her hand!

Evening came and while Hse Minh’s went for sharp, clean and bold lines for his suit, this girl loves her lace. Hsueh Wei’s wedding gown is a one-shouldered number with lace laboriously sewed on the strap and bodice and boasts a really long train made out of silk chiffon. It was dramatic without the weight and flowed easily. Her evening gown is a strapless, mermaid cut with a drop back, looking fabulous in dark blue lace with a pale pink undertone.

A sea of white with splashes of deep red - we really love how this colour palette creates such an impeccable impression! They were inspired to create a very spectacular celebration free of typical hotel receptions and full of fun. It was a party where everyone dressed up and the venue, Chijmes Hall adorned with elegant and beautiful flowers. They also procured entertainment that wowed the crowd - an amazing 2 piece band and delightful acts of song and dance from Jakarta! The night’s programme was one with dinner, drinks, dance! Pre-dinner cocktails were served at the lawn, followed by a video montage that was shot during the wedding ceremony held in Malacca.

The most memorable moment for Hsueh Wei? Why, the first dance of course! “Minh had forgotten the steps to our first dance entirely, and just swung me around.” We think that’s definitely one endearing way of sweeping the bride off her feet.
