At Long Last | Wedding of Grace and Nigel

You'd think that a wedding would turn couples into balls of nerves but the initial disbelief morphed into excitement for Grace and intense jitters (which is good too!) for Nigel. Before they knew it, both were basking in joy and the feelings of being blessed by the company of all at their wedding - a bash in striking green and serene white, a gorgeous celebration of love out under the sun! Accompany nature’s hues were robin’s egg blue and dove grey, their choice colours for the wedding.

THE PROPOSAL
Nigel planned a special suprise on their trip to Queenstown, New Zealand. On the first day of their trip, he had planned a walking trail up a hill. “Two hours of uphill struggling later, we were sitting on the peak with expansive views of the sky and fjords below. It was just the two of us and the moment was perfect. Nigel hadn’t quite plucked up the courage yet before many fellow hikers joined us at the peak and I started to make a hasty descent (needing to go to the bathroom!),” the couple reminisces. “Trying to salvage the moment, Nigel chased me down and fumbled with his bag and said a sheepish ‘Wait, I have a present for you’. I was overjoyed when he brought out the ring.”

THE ATTIRE
Nigel’s tuxedo was a black silk-wool blend while a little girl’s dream came true. “Growing up, I had always fancied the notion of myself in Vera Wang on my wedding day. My heart was set the moment I saw the dress.” Grace walked down the aisle in a Vera Wang Gemma gown, designed with a mermaid silhouette in ivory tulle and organza. Her evening gown was a red Zac Posen silk-jersey tube dress, embellished with origami detailing on the bustier for a modern touch.

The things that don’t go as planned during weddings can be vexing but Grace and Nigel had learned to shrug it off and focus on the significant issues instead - a healthy habit for couples to remember on their big day.  “All the little details ceased to matter - what mattered was that our closest friends and family were there to spend the day with us.” Grace’s two best moments were getting ready in the company of her mother and bridesmaids amid excited chatter and laughter, and the other was walking down the aisle with Nigel hand-in-hand as a newly-minted couple.

Finally when the day turns into night, the couple puts it best - it was “one big party that’s worth all the hype.”
