Always With Me | Wedding of Daphne and Sebastian

Love finds you in the strangest places and in the most unpredictable of times. Sebastian and Daphne were kindergarten classmates and that makes it almost 28 years of friendship. But they only started going out in their teens, and finally got hitched in Bali almost a decade later!

Under blue Bali skies, pink and ivory enchant the wedding. These colours are established throughout, finding its place in many details such as paper lanterns and a tantalizing dessert table! The day had Daphne dolling up in a Vera Wang for the ceremony; clad in ivory, lace and a mermaid cut to flaunt her curves. The reception dinner saw her making a statement in a Monique Lhuillier; a princess cut in blush pink and tulle; a different silhouette for the evening.

Sebastian wowed the crowd in a Hugo Boss suit. Bright navy blue accompanied with a pink shirt and a tie in light pink and purple. He wanted to channel a summer-like cheer that’s suitable for an outdoor, over-the-cliff wedding.

Interestingly enough, the pair relayed nuggets of their relationship through creative wedding favours! They had fun facts printed on favours and each guest at each table had a different one. “Our guests were able to share with each other these fun facts while waiting for me to change into my reception dress,” the bride mentions.

It takes lots of time, effort, love and patience to put together a wedding, what more a destination wedding? So to avoid getting lost in all the opinions and thoughts of others during the wedding preparation, Daphne gives us her two cents worth:

  • “You are the only one who knows what you want – don’t be afraid to ask for what you want even if people tell you otherwise because it is your big day, not theirs.”
  • “Make sure you communicate every little detail to everyone involved in the planning so that everyone knows what exactly it is you want.”
  • “Write a list of things to check or do for the day of so you don’t forget.”
  • “Test both your hair and makeup way in advance – try out at least 2 people before making a decision. What works for other people might not work for you.”
  • “Keep a clock noticeable in your changing room and a printout of the wedding day schedule. Make sure someone like one of your bridesmaids know the schedule and have her keep you on schedule.”
