Your videographer has to have that x-factor that sets him apart from others. And we are not talking about the grandeur of his studio facilities, or the equipment he uses, it’s that chemistry that connects the two of you with him, it’s his personality that makes him a complementary part of your perfect picture.

Make sure that he understands the both of you through and true, and that he knows exactly what you guys want.

Yes, you’re looking for someone who knows how to work a video-camera – but don’t negate the fact that he must, most importantly have artistic direction. Don’t let anyone fool you with their ‘extensive knowledge’ on video technicalities.

Videographers with different experiences would certainly add flavour and angles that you might not have thought of before. A good videographer should be able to place all your finest moments together in one perfect video. The overall feel of the video should have you nodding along in agreement, and you would be able to relieve your wedding day experience, in all its comical and beautiful moments.

Experience doesn’t necessarily come with age, so choose wisely!

Narrow down your choices to about two or three potential candidates and ask to see samples of their work. You’ll be able to assess the quality and style of the video work done and see for yourself if that suits what you are looking for. You have to be comfortable with the video samples shown to you, and if the video samples shown makes you feel like a part of that other couple’s wedding – it’s always a good sign if you feel slightly envious!

After narrowing down your search to the two or three candidates that you’ve chosen, ask around for testimonials about their services. Ask couples who’ve previously engaged their services an honest opinion about their professionalism and efficiency. Styles are very subjective so limit your questions to that of the videographers and their working styles. After all, you would want to make sure that your video-man is capturing all the essential bits instead of just snacking around the buffet table!

Start rolling the camera and let life happen!
