Picking the Right Photographer

Photography packages are very enticing; they’ve got so many things you’ll need and more! But let’s get things straight, you won’t need all the frills that these packages offer. So take time to consider these important aspects before signing up for that dream photography package.

  • Devote a substantial amount of time to this particular task!
  • Choose someone whom you are most comfortable with, someone who can tell you what to do without trampling on your toes, someone who can invite you to take fearless and bold steps.
  • Identify three or four photographers that you like, be it style, look, or charisma, and together with your partner, interview them with an open mind. Compare their style and what they are capable of producing to your expectations!
  • Always ask for samples of photographs he has done for other weddings before agreeing to a photographer’s reassurance that he can handle your wedding with finesse.
  • Never be guided solely by price! Great pictures are always worth every cent spent especially when any random piece can be considered a work of art!
  • If you are negotiating a deal with an umbrella company of photographers, be sure to meet the one that will be taking your shots on your special day.
  • In your contract with the photographer - jot down the details of what you want and expect – that will provide a clause that exempts you from paying for shots that you are not satisfied with.
  • Discuss the hours required for your wedding day photography. Standard weddings usually take at least eight hours – don’t commit to a lesser time frame, the extra-hour charges can end up being even more expensive than requesting for a longer period in the first place.
  • Look out for recommendations but do not agree instantaneously to what others think is “right” or “perfect” for you. After all, it’s YOUR wedding.
  • Does a small background check on your photographer for opinions and credentials; and if there aren’t any horror stories, proceed.
